We Love Art 🖼
We learnt about two famous artists over the past two weeks and we were inspired by their work. We looked at paintings by Georges Seurat and we noticed he uses pointillism. We were inspired to use the same technique to complete our Autumn Trees.
We also looked at work by Paul Klee, he uses lots of shapes and colours. We were inspired by his building piece and created our own using pencils to sketch, crayon to outline and watercolours to paint. Take a look!

Hi everyone,
We are now into the final few days of Senior Infants- what a year it has been! We have missed you all so much over the past few weeks and are so disappointed that we will not get to see you before you finish up for the summer.
However, we do have some good news! This week we will be organising a show and tell zoom call with you all. It will take place on Friday the 26th at 1pm. We will be sending you all an email this week with some further details. It would be great if you could let us know by Wednesday if you would like to be included in the zoom call so that we can send you on the link to join. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to email us.
Well done to everyone that took part in sports week- it looked like you all had a great time! This week we would like you to focus on cooking. It would be great if you could help your parents with the masterchef competition- You can find out the full detail on the school home page and you can all see what the teachers have been cooking.
We have included lots of fun ideas in the chart attached below that you can choose from each day. As always, don’t forget to send us on some photos.
We hope you are all keeping safe and well and look forward to hearing from many of you on the zoom call,
Ms Sherwin and Ms Quigg

What have Senior Infants been up to ?
15th - 19th of June
Hi everyone,
We hope you all had a lovely weekend :)
We have some very exciting news!! This week we are hosting a virtual sports week. The main focus for this week is to be as active as possible. The active school page will be posting different activities each day for you to practise to get you ready for our virtual sports day this Friday. Try your best to do as many as the activities as you can each day- we promise they are lots of fun! We would love if you could send us on some photos of you trying out the activities. We will be emailing certificates of participation to the girls that take part :) Sport day this year will be very different, but you can have just as much fun from your home- why not get the whole family involved?
As you will be so busy getting active this week, we have decided to give you a lot less work. This week we would like you to continue to read each day, practise your sounds, play some counting games and participate in the virtual sports week.
There is also a poster competition which has been posted on the Learning at Home page that might like to get involved in :)
Ms Quigg is still running the baking/cooking competition every week. All you have to do is take a picture of something you bake/cook and send it to Ms. Quigg by Friday. A big well done to Molly who won the cooking competition for this week, her Homemade Pizza looked so Yummy. Head on over to the cookery page if you would like some ideas.
Have a fun and active week and don't forget to send on your photos,
Ms Sherwin and Ms Quigg

Hi girls,
We hope you all had a lovely Easter and are keeping well at home. We have loved getting your emails with pictures of the great work that you have all been doing. It looks like you are all working really hard and getting very creative at home.
Unfortunately, we will not be returning to school this week, so here is some work that you can complete at home. We will be attaching some PowerPoints here to accompany some of the work which may help you to learn some new topics. Once again, there is no pressure to complete it all, just do what you can. We would love to see some pictures of you in action in aistear at home, your artwork, how you are keeping active, and of course some school work- send them onto your class teacher via email.
Don't forget you can tune into RTE Home School Hub on RTE2 daily from 11am-12pm.
Stay safe,
Ms Sherwin & Ms Quigg

Easter Learning Activities 🐣🐰
Hi Girls,
Well done on all of the online learning work you have been doing girls. We love getting your emails of all of cool and fun things you have been doing and all of the great work that you are all doing. Don't forget to help out at home too! Ask your parents what chores you can help out with for example making your bed, setting the table, tidying away your toys etc.
We hope everyone is well and is staying safe at home. For the next week our Integrated Learning theme is Easter. Here is a choice of activities you could do at home if you wish. You are doing a great job and as long as the girls are happy and safe then that’s all that matter.
We hope you all have a lovely and safe Easter and don’t eat too much chocolate!! Remember to keep trying to get a bit of fresh air every day and a bit of exercise. (a fun way to do this during Easter is to do an Easter hunt in your garden or around your house).
Happy Easter, We miss you loads and can't wait to see you soon.

Raz-kids Reading
We have set up an account for all the pupils on this website. This website allows them to complete readers at their own level and move up accordingly. They can also record themselves reading and it has different activities in literacy. Through this, we can monitor their reading and look at different activities completed.
This can be found through the following link:
https://www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login/DesktopVersion/y
We have class accounts created which they can join, the usernames are:
For Ms Sherwin’s class: MsSherwin
For Ms Quigg’s class: MsQuigg
If you would like your daughter to take part, please email their class teacher at: [email protected] or [email protected]
and we will send on their individual passwords to log in. Again, there is no pressure to complete this.
This website is new to us too so we will see how it goes! :)
As well as this, Amazon have cancelled all subscriptions of books and audio stories for children, so they can be instantly streamed on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet by using the following link: http://stories.audible.com/discovery. These stories come in 6 different languages!

Hi Girls,
Here is your new challenge for today:
Here is your new challenge for today:
- Writing: Keep a simple Diary of your days spent at home. Write about the things that you can see in your Bedroom or Kitchen e.g I can see a _______. Write a card/letter for a loved one that you might not be able to see during this time.
- Dictation: Call out some simple sentences and see if your child can write them. Get them to sound out the words if they are finding it difficult to spell them but don't worry about the spelling (let them be inventive) e.g I went to the Park.

Hi Girls :)
We really hope that you are all keeping safe and well. Keep an eye on this page every few days as we will be putting up a different challenge for you all to try at home every few days. In school we have done a lot of work on patterns. Today we want you all to use the skills that you have learned about patterns and matching and sorting to help with the washing. Help your Mum or Dad to pair ALL the socks that are in the washing basket after they have been washed. Here are also some PDFs of games or activites that you could print out if you want and play.

School Closure work
Hi everyone,
We hope everyone is keeping well and looking after themselves over these next few weeks. We have sent home a number of books with your daughter to keep them busy over the few weeks. We would like to stress that all of the work we have sent home is revision so please do not feel under pressure to get this work completed. You can decide on how much or how little your daughter should complete over the next few weeks, we will not be looking for all of this work to be completed, it is just to keep them busy! There will also be some interactive games and websites on the schools main home page.
Fireworks Giants Puppets and Ducks: Page 3, 4, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30 and 32
Handwriting Today: Your daughter can practice any of the lowercase letters that they like. Please do not do the Capital letters as the girls have not been taught cursive capital letters yet.
Planet maths homework book: Page 7, 8 12, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26.
Sketch copies: The girls can sketch any items that they spot from around the house. They could also use Art for Kids Hub on youtube to follow a step by step guideline on how to draw various farm animals.
Tricky words and sounds: Please revise all tricky words and sounds daily if possible. All Jolly phonics sounds are available on youtube. Geraldine Giraffe on Youtube could also be used to revise words associated with different sounds. We have also attached a picture down below of all of the sounds that we have completed this year.
Paired reading: We have sent home additional paired reading books for your daughter to read each day with an adult. These can be re-read over the time off.
Active homework: We have attached a file of some active homework the girls could complete to stay active over the coming weeks.
Looking forward to seeing all of your smiling faces soon.
Kind regards,
Ms. Sherwin and Ms.Quigg
