Hi Girls,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and I hope you all really enjoyed Active School Week.
This week is Junior Master Chef week! Try to cook or bake something nice this week and head over to the Cookery Club page to find out what some of the teachers have been cooking and baking over the past few weeks.
This week, I would like you to read chapter 3, from ‘Max this missing Puppy’ and summarise what happens in the chapter in your own words to a parent or sibling. You can also draw a comic strip summarising this chapter.
I can’t believe it’s our last week of school, can you?
We will have a zoom call on Thursday, you all received an email last Friday with the link at the times you need to log on. You can prepare some news to share, your favourite memory from 2nd class or something you would like to show and tell. If you have any questions or can’t make the call please email me!
As we didn’t get to have our school tour this year, I have attached a document with links to virtual school tours each day!
In short, this week’s focus is:
I’m really looking forward to chatting to you all on zoom!

,Hi Girls,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Exciting news!
Last week would have been our sports week in school so we’ve decided to have sports week this week instead. Each day we will post lots of ideas on the Active school page. Monday will focus on running, Tuesday will focus on jumping, Wednesday will focus on Throwing and Thursday will focus on traditional sports day games. On Friday, we will give you a sample timetable to follow for a virtual sports day. Here you will choose your 5 favourite activities that you have tried during the week to complete along with some teacher challenges.
Go to the active school page every day to find your tasks!
As well as this, Junior Master Chef will have a healthy twist this week! Try to cook or bake something super healthy that you could maybe have as a snack or lunch during sports week!
If you go to the Learning from Home page you can read about a new poster competition that you can enter if you like.
This week, I would like you to read chapter 2, page 21-45 from ‘Max this missing Puppy’ and summarise what happens in the chapter in your own words to a parent or sibling. You can also draw a comic strip summarising this chapter.
In short, this week’s focus is:
Have fun,

Raz-Kids Reading
Raz-kids: I have set up an account for all the pupils on this website. This website allows them to complete readers at their own level and move up accordingly. They can also record themselves reading and it has different activities in literacy. Through this, I can monitor their reading and look at different activities completed.
This can be found through the following link: http://www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login?
I have a class account created which they can join, the username is: MsShaughnesy and each student has an individual password.
If you would like your daughter to take part, please email me at [email protected] and I will send on their password. Again, there is no pressure to complete this.
This website is new to me too so we will see how it goes! :)
As well as this, Amazon have cancelled al subscriptions of books and audio stories for children, so they can be instantly streamed on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet by using the following likn: http://stories.audible.com/discovery. These stories come in 6 different languages!

Paper Helicopters
The shape of the helicopter rotor blades make it spin when dropped from a height. Gravity pulls the helicopter down. The air resists the movement and pushes up each rotor separately, causing the helicopter to spin.
We made two different sized helicopters and added paper clips for weight. We investigated which one stayed in the air the longest.

She gave us lots of good advice like; brush our teeth twice a day, only drink diluted drinks at meal times; milk and water are really tooth friendly. She also taught us about the non-tooth friendly foods and drinks. We should only have them on our treat day. What is your treat day?
Caradh O'Donovan
World Champion at Kickboxing and Karate
Caradh came to visit our school on Tuesday 6th February. She showed us some really important exercises to help keep our bodies strong and healthy. We had so much fun we didn't even want to stop at the end!

Ms. Gleeson and some of the parents organised a fruit and vegetable tasting day in our school this week. The array of choice was amazing and the girls in Senior Infants were so good at trying everything out. A few surprise favourites were kale, pomegranate, beetroot. We will have some enthusiastic girls going grocery shopping next week.
