STEM FUn

We've been trying a STEM challenge every week in June! This week we tried the 'Can you fit through one piece of paper?' Challenge. Well done Mairin and Caoimhe, who figured out how to cut the paper so that they could fit through it!

Sports day!

Well done to all the girls who did so well during our Sports Day! We played football tennis, did novelty races, a penalty shoot out and we finished up with an obstacle race! Well done girls!

Our visit to the irish mueseum of modern art

On Thursday, we got a chance to visit IMMA. We got a guided tour from Evie, who showed us lots of interesting pieces of art including paintings, prints, sculptures and videos. We also had a chance to discuss and ask questions about all the intriguing art work we seen!

Working with perimeter

We are learning about length in our Math lessons this week! Today the girls were learning about perimeter and were tasked with designing a plan for a new school.

Fun with static electricity

The girls are learning about electricity over the coming weeks. We started learning about static electricity today. The girls experimented with different materials to investigate what materials have good static charge, they then tested this by seeing how many Rice Krispies they could pick using the statically charged balloon!

Cross-country races

Some of the girls in 5th and 6th class were chosen to go to a Cross-Country event in St. Anne's Park today. Well done to all the girls that took part!

Tag rugby blitz

The girls took part in a tag rugby blitz this week! They played so well, well done girls!

Pancake Tuesday!

The girls enjoyed some delicious pancakes today to celebrate Pancake Tuesday!

Chinese new year

We have been learning about China and the Chinese New Year in our History and Geography lessons this month. The girls made 3D dragons to celebrate the Chinese New Year this week!

End of year fun

We celebrated the end of a great year with an ice-cream party. We also had one last “dress up Friday” where the girls dressed up as a character from ‘Stanley’ by Peter Gunning. Look at the creativity!
Take a look at the News Blog page for photos of the school jog and other events from the year. Have a great summer everyone, see you in September!

Sports day

Farm visit and Picnic

We weren’t able to go on a school tour this year so the tour came to us! We had a really lovely day holding and petting the animals from Wooly Farm. The sun shone down on us all day. We had a lovely picnic outside with treats, fun & games. And it was all topped off with an ice cream. Everyone agreed that it was a great day! Take a look at the News Blog on the main page for some more photos.

Easter bonnet parade

We had a great day on Friday for our first Easter Bonnet Parade. It was wonderful to see the breadth of colour and creativity on show. Well done to everyone for putting in such an amazing effort. The judges had their work cut out trying to choose a winner amongst such talent!
A special congratulations to Hannah and Caoimhe who won the overall prize in rooms 6 & 7.
Wishing you all a very happy and healthy Easter break.

Settling into September in Room 6

We've had a busy few weeks settling into 4th class in Room 6. Have a look at the photos in our slideshow to get a glimpse at what we've been doing.

June 2020

Hi girls! Hope you all enjoyed the Sports Week, I really enjoyed seeing your photos. This week we have another fun week! For our last week of school (Can you believe it?!) we are going to focus on our well-being, take part in cooking, do some virtual school tours and catch up via zoom!

Looking after our well-being is super important, especially after such an unusual school year. I have attached a well-being booklet full of lovely activities that you could use all through summer! Rainbow moments, having a kind mind and learning how to deal with worries - all in this booklet. I hope you enjoy it 🙂

Reminder that Junior Masterchef is on and this week, there is an adults cooking competition! Check out the post on 'Home' for more details.

Unfortunately we didn't have our School Tour... so this week we have a virtual school tour every day 😄 Check out the file below to see a fun activity each day.

This Thursday, we are going to have a class zoom call. Please email me if you would like to be involved. I will then email you with all of the details that you will need to join our call. Every girl will get a chance to talk during the zoom call. Have a think about what you would like to talk about; You could do a show and tell, share some exciting news, a happy memory from 3rd class or even just say hi. It will be great to hear from you :)
Don't forget to email ms.handly.stjohnofgodartane@gmail.com if you would like to take part.

Lastly, as we normal would watch a movie on the last day of school - Why not do a movie quiz?! Feel free to email me so you can check your answers!

See you soon, Ms. Handly 🌸

🌸 Week 11th - 15th of May 🌸

Hello, hello 😊

I hope you all had another lovely weekend!
Just a reminder to send in your art competition submission by 5pm on Wednesday  🎨 Also if there are any more Active Charts please send them to me.
Active Schools have also set up a Daily Mile Club - bit of a fun competition between classes. When you go on a walk/run, if you take a picture of the distance (fitbits, apps such as mapmyrun, google maps - whatever works for you) and send it to me. The class totals will be combined and the winning class will get vouchers to use when we get back to school 🎉

Also, I was hoping to put together a little file for next week if you could all send me a little message for your classmates. You could tell us what you've been doing, or tell a joke or just wishing everyone well. Then next week, I'll upload a file and there'll be a little message from the class 😊
Even far apart, we're still together 🤗

For example, your note could say
'Hi 3rd class, it's _____. I hope you are well. I have been keeping busy by bouncing on my trampoline and reading lots of books.  I miss you all'.

Remember to try your best with work, don't worry if you don't get everything finished.

Raz-Kids Website
I have set up an account for all of girls on the raz-kids website. This website allows the girls to complete readers at their own level and move up accordingly. They can also record themselves reading and it has different activities for them to complete. Through this, I can monitor their reading and look at different activities completed.
This can be found through the following link: http://www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login

I have a class account created which the girls can join, the username is: msryan2020 and each student has an individual password.
If you would like your daughter to take part, please email me at ms.ryan.st.johnofgodartane@gmail.com and I will send on their password. Again, there is no pressure to complete this :)

Hi Everybody,
I hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well. I have attached a new file with activities to keep you busy this week and during the Easter holidays. As always, just try your best with the assigned activities. You are under no pressure to complete it all.
I have also set up an email address should you need to contact me about this work. My email address is ms.ryan.st.johnofgodartane@gmail.com. Here you can send pictures of your artwork or projects.
