On Tuesday 1st October a group of parent volunteers came in to help slice and dice all the delicious fruit and vegetables for the whole school to taste. There was a wide range of fruit and vegetables to taste - some familiar and some surprises. Each class came down with their teacher to taste everything and record which ones they liked the most. Take a look at some of the photos here.

On Sunday 20th October the Parents Association organised our annual Family Bingo in the Artane Beaumont Recreation Centre. Once again they outdid themselves with extra tables and chairs being squeezed in to fit all the families. Thank you to all the families and friends who came along to show their support and take part in the fun. And a huge thank you to all the parents who put in so much effort to ensure that the day was a huge success. Many parents who are not on the Parents' Association also volunteered to help out on the day and we are very appreciative that you gave up your time for us. Well done to all the lucky winners on the day! Prize Giving is always a fabulous assembly in our school. The wonderful achievements of the girls over the year are acknowledged with medals and certs. We had prizes for football team, soccer team and athletics squad, the choir who performed at Peace Proms, the Ukulele & Recorder group and our young chefs who completed the cookery course. The 6th Class girls were also presented with their end of year attendance prizes. Well done to all the girls and teachers involved.
This was our first year participating in the Creative Arts Initiative. We had a special day to celebrate all the hard work both pupils and teachers have done this year.
Today we tasted a range of fruit, vegetables, cheese and even some olives! Watermelon, lemons and limes proved to be the most popular of the day. A huge thank you to Ms. Clarke, Denise and all the parents who came in to school this morning to prepare, chop and serve the food. The children had a great time! Take a look at some of our photos.
Today we celebrated World Book Day in style. Everyone dressed up as their favourite character and had a chance to visit the Book and Stationary Fair in the hall. Well done to all the girls for their creative and amazing costumes. Most impressively one girl dressed up as a character from her own book! A huge thank you to the Parents' Association for all their hard work in organising the fair. Here are some photos from the day!
For World Book Day each class revamped their classroom library. Here are some of the photos so far. Which one is your favourite? Let us know by leaving a comment! Last Thursday, 8th March was St. John of God Day. The girls in Ms. Gerrard's First Class organised a very special assembly to celebrate. Here is a photo of them all. Thank you to Ms. Gerrard and her girls for all their hard work. They were wonderful!
A big congratultions to the 6th Class girls who made their Confirmation last Thursday 8th of March. A big thank you to Mrs. Breen for all her hard work in preparing the girls. We also would like to congratulate and thank Ms. O'Dwyer and the choir for all their hard work and beautiful singing. They made the Confirmation extra special.
On Friday, we got to see all the girls in their beautiful outfits when they put on a little fashion show for us. You all looked beautiful girls. Due to the red alert that has been issued by Met Éireann the school will be closed Thursday 1st March and Friday 2nd March. Stay safe and warm indoors.
World champion Caradh O'Donovan came in to visit us here at St. John of God NS. She coached the girls in a variety of exercises that she says are the key to keeping our bodies strong and healthy. She also spoke to us about how we should never give up on our dreams! We are certainly going to take her advice as Caradh has represented Ireland in 3 sports and is now training really hard to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Have a look at some of our photos from this special training session. Check out this tweet from Caradh after she came to visit! We are so happy to see she enjoyed being at our school! https://twitter.com/CaradhODonovan/status/960905113803067393 We had Grandparents' Day on Thursday 1st February. The 5th Class organised a special prayer service up in the hall and afterwards they came to visit all the children in their classrooms. It was such a special day and we really loved having you all in to visit. Thank you for sharing your stories and playing games with us.
We had a great day on Friday 27th October as the whole school gathered together in the hall for our annual Céilí na Samhna. Each class put a lot of practice into learning their Céilí dance. Paddy decorated the hall and Ms. DeNuinseann was our MC for the day. Have a look at the photos to see some of the creative and spooky Halloween costumes from the day.
Keep your eyes peeled for some familiar faces featuring in the Irish Times newspaper this week! Ms. Gerrard and the girls in First Class Room 7 had some special visitors on Friday!
It's that time of the year again! The Cumann na mBunscoil Football league is starting next week. Our first match is Wednesday 13th September against Gaelscoil Chomcille in Whitehall.
We are looking for lots of support and some lifts from the mammies and daddies. Please come and cheer on our girls! Our first school AGM will be held on 5th October at 8pm. We hope to see lots of new and familiar faces there. Watch out for the children's posters that will popping up around the school!
The Artane Beaumont Recreational Centre was a hub of excitement for our annual St. John of God Family Bingo Fundraiser. It was unlucky for some but for the winners it was a little slice of heaven with some going home with dinner vouchers, tickets for the city bus tour, board games, jewellery, a bike and much much more! Thanks to our super Parent's Association for organising and hosting another successful event and to all the companies and businesses who sponsored us. We couldn't do it without you all!
