Today we all got to taste a beautiful cake that one of our classmates had baked with Denise. It was delicious.
This month the family mass will be held on Sunday 25th November at 11:30 and will be led by St. David's boy school. Our girls will be bringing up symbols that will be displayed on the Jesse tree or at the back of the church.
Full Attendance for October
Today we made popcorn as a class. We used all our senses as we made it and ate it.
What a wonderful afternoon we had in croke park. We are so proud of our football team. We hope some day we get to play in Croke Park too. A big thank you to Trish, Lisa and Gillian who painted our faces before we left.
People at work
Today Anne Our Lollipop Lady came to talk to 2nd class about her role. Anne explained why she has to wear her uniform and hold the stick. The girls all got a chance to hold the lollipop stick. The girls asked lots of questions and enjoyed hearing the answers. Thank you Anne.
We have read the novel The Twits by Roald Dahl. The girls loved it. We worked on lots of different skills as we read through it- creating images, predicting, inferring, making connections and a variety of written tasks. One of our favourite activities was group work on creating a character profile for Muggle Wump (the monkey).
Maths Week 2018
This week is Maths week. Maths is everywhere and we love maths in 2nd class. This week we have added a few new fun games into our maths lessons.
Literacy for Fun
We had lots of Parent volunteers for Literacy for Fun. Thank you so much for coming into our classroom and playing games with us. We had so much fun.
GAA has started back with Colm from Parnells. The girls had great fun showing off their skills.
The Five Senses
Today all of 2nd class went on a sensory walk in the playground. They were excellent at using their 4 senses( we left taste out). Some girls heard airplanes, an alarm, dogs barking, etc. Some girls felt the smooth metal, the rough bark on the trees. It was really wonderful and the girls loved working in groups sharing their knowledge.
Thanks to Debbie our wonderful Librarian who explained how to use the library and she even let the girls scan out their own book. We will visit the library every Monday to read some new books and change our book.
The Aistear room
Today we went to the Aistear room with all the 2nd class girls. It was super fun. The theme in the Aistear room was my home which tied in nicely with our family topic.
